So, we're still not ACTUALLY buying (yet), but that doesn't stop us from looking! The problem is that we want something with a little bit of land and no close neighbors, but we (read: I) don't want another fixer. So far, we went to two open houses last weekend but didn't really feel inspired by either one.
First one (Not enough character & in a subdivision)
Second one (Yard was too small and the neighbors too close)
Then, on my lunch break today, I'm pretty sure I found THE HOUSE. If it's still on the market in two months (when we could realistically get a loan) it will be ours. Josh is in love, too. We're going to sneakily drive by it tomorrow and check it out.
ETA 1/31: We drove by it today and it's just as perfect in person. *sigh*

Okay, #1 I love for myself! :) I know you said it didn't have enough character, but my house currently has plenty (i.e. odd placement of fixtures, windows not centered, odd shaped rooms, not to mention the bathroom...) so I'm ready for something a little more symmetrical.
#2...eh. I do love the tile floors in the kitchen. Also, it looks like a split level, and I am vehemently opposed to that!
#3 has you, Josh & Hazel written all over it! I hope it's still available when you're ready to buy.
You're right, #2 is a split level. To me, the only redeeming factor to it was the brand new appliances, including the six(!!!) burner stove. That was pretty awesome.
We definitely liked #1 better than #2. Felt much more homelike, even through the carpets were horible. (Not one room was the same color.) but it sits on a corner lot, which we're not crazy about. If we have to live in town, we'd prefer a nice cul de sac or a private location like your house has.
Our dream house (#3) is going to be open this weekend for viewings. WE ARE GOING!
Have fun! :)
