Prom Pictures

Here are some pictures I took of Sarah this afternoon.
Doesn't she look beautiful?

Sarah and Vanessa. Vanessa did Sarah's makeup for her today.

Jase & Sarah (don't they make a cute couple??...too bad they're just friends)

Running away from me & my camera as fast as they can go!

Awww...how sweet, he's opening her door.

I hope she has a wonderful night!

Today is LHS's prom. Sarah got invited to go again this year. She had a steady boyfriend a little while back, but they broke up and some other guy asked her. This morning I get the oh so fun task of taking her to get ready. So far on my list of things to do: take her to have her nails (fingers and toes) done; go buy undergarments that will be seamless, cute, and will hold in her stomach (like she really needs that); take her to have her hair done (has no idea how she wants it done and Sharee is fitting her in). It doesn't sound like much, but figure about 2 hours for the nails, who knows how long for shopping and then another hour for her hair at the least. I need a margarita break in there at some point. I know Sarah's going to be whiny all day. It will drive me crazy! Oh well, she's my sister and I love her. I can stand a few hours of torture. I'll make sure to bring my camera though and take lots of pictures so you can see how beautiful she looked.

Bad Kitty!

Boomer must be going through a rebellious stage right now. He ran away the day after Christmas and we couldn't find him for 3 days. Then things went okay for awhile, but here lately he has been getting into trouble again. Especially now that the windows and shades have been up. Sitting in the window is one thing, but he likes to be in the window over the kitchen sink. Well, I rearranged stuff up there so he couldn't get in it thinking it would deter him, but no, now he just sits in the sink! The first time Doug told me about it I asked if he took a picture, but he was too mad to do that. BTW, did you know there is an entire website dedicated to cats in sinks? And he's constantly up on the counter, which I hate. We prepare our food there, you know? Now I'm afraid to make anything to take somewhere, just in case cat hair gets into it. YUCK! The other day he went out the window when we had been cleaning. We had the glass and the screens up to clean out the window sills and we had forgotten to put the screen back down and he was gone within seconds I think. Luckily he was just laying in the yard, but still. We've got to stop this before it gets out of hand. It just seems to be Boomer, Tess doesn't do any of this stuff. I'm afraid he's going to be a bad influence on her.

Pictures

Here's Boomer in his most recent picture.
He was mad at us that night. He wanted to be outside and I caught him before he had a chance to get too far.
Here's Tess in her most recent picture.
Doesn't she look pretty? This is one of the few pictures I've managed to take that didn't make her look like a demon kitty.

Cheesecake

I got a new book today. Actually, there's a funny story about this book. Amanda & I have both read this author's previous three novels and loved them, so when we saw that the author was going to be doing a book signing in KC we knew we had to go. In order to go you had to order a copy of the book. At retail price. Now you know how much I hate paying retail for anything, much less a book! But we figured it would be worth it and Amanda split the price with me. We ordered it about 6 weeks ago and got so excited about going. Well, I should have known it was doomed from the get go when it took 3 weeks for the book to show up on my bank card. Then the day of the book signing came (it was this past Monday) and the forecast was not good that day. Strong thunderstorms and hail. Hmmm...I wasn't so sure I wanted to drive in that. Fortunately for us, the forecast got better all day and by the time we were ready to leave the storms were going to be later in the night, so they would be no problem for us. So we left right after work on Monday with our internet directions and we stopped in Platte City at McDonald's for a quick bite to eat. We were going to eat at the Cheesecake Factory after the event, but decided we wouldn't be able to wait that long for dinner. So we decided to just have dessert there. The ride was pretty uneventful except for the fact that we were driving straight into the wind. We followed our directions to the letter and didn't have a problem until we got off the highway at our last exit. Our first problem was that it told us to turn the wrong way on a one way street. Then there was construction going on like every other block. We got so lost! We basically drove around and around in a circle for 45 minutes. We couldn't find this place for anything. We even stopped and asked some construction workers (the only non-scary people we saw, did I mention we were downtown?) and they didn't know where we were going. We called the bookstore that was putting on the event and they were closed, we called the coffee shop where we were supposed to be and they had switched on their voice mail. We knew at this point, we weren't going to make it. So instead we decided to go straight to the Cheesecake Factory. We weren't quite sure how to get there, but we took Broadway all the way until we got to the Plaza and pretty much ran right into it. Thank goodness for that, because by then we really needed cheesecake! We did manage to stay in good spirits the whole time. After all of that, I called the bookstore yesterday morning, explained what happened and asked them to please ship the book to me. It cost me another $6.50, but the copy was already autograhped so that was cool. And I got the book today, which is probably why it cost me so much! Anyhow, I think I'm going to let Amanda reading it first. I'm still rereading the book that comes before it and I'm in the middle of another one.

In other news, I can't wait until Friday! We are getting DVR!!! As if our cable bill isn't expensive enough already. ;-)

It's another small screen moment...

and I thought I'd take a few seconds to pop on here and say hi! Because I don't have the time to fully say much of anything I'll type the first five things that come to my head. Ready?

1.) I think I need glasses. My eyes hurt and my head is throbbing.
2.) We now have a six month old dark gray kitten named Sorcha. Josh named her after a character on the movie Willow.
3.) I looked at makeup yesterday and actually bought a foundation because it had retinol in it and promised finer lines. Surely this is a sign of impending doom.
4.) I sooo want that Jane Austen action figure! I've been O.D.ing on really bad Austen sequels lately. *Sigh* it's just not the same! (BTW have you seen the new P&P with Keira Knightly yet?)
5.) I love scrapbooking now!

Eureka, I'm Employed!

So.

After seven months, 13 job interviews and god knows how many bill late fees, I got a real, honest to goodness job!

It's not my dream job, but it is a good one. The company is called Navitus and it's a pharmacy benefit manager. I worked a temp job for them and they liked me well enough to hire me, which makes me feel really good after feeling so down about myself for so long. So now I'm a Marketing Communications Specialist with a salary just good enough to allow for some seriously fun shopping trips with my best friend! We need to go to Mall of America, Misty! Think of all the damage we could do there!

I'm at work now and typing incognito. It's difficult for me to get computer time at work... I am in a cubicle and my boss has a direct line of sight to my HUGE computer screen. Right now she's on the phone and distracted and I've got the window tiny and at the bottom of the screen. I don't *think* she can see it like this. Next week, though I'm moving to a bigger cubicle that is a bit more private. I still have no internet access at home, which is REALLY hard for me (as I'm sure you know!) but I hope to soon.

Anyway, I figure I've got alot of posts to write to make up for my absense here, so I'll cut this one off now and write another one later on today.

Not quite 26 yet...

You Are 26 Years Old
Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe.
13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world.
20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences.
30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more!
40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax.
What Age Do You Act?

I saw this on a website today and I knew you'd have to have it! I wish I knew your address so I could send it to you!

I've been feeling kind of blah lately. Not really sad or anything, just kind of indifferent. Maybe it's because I haven't been sleeping well or something. Who knows? Maybe if I go have Dairy Queen tonight it will make me feel better.
