On the Road to Crazytown...

So here I am at 10w3d pregnant.  Feeling rather good.  Almost too good.  I've been googling furiously about feeling better at this point in my pregnancy and getting everything from this being a sign of miscarriage to hormones evening out at this point.  I should probably call my doctor.  My next appointment is on the 20th and they'll do the heartbeat check then.

Honestly, I'd forgotten this part.  I remember telling D when K was about 2 that I felt like my body was made to be pregnant and what if I wanted to be a surrogate or something for my brother (you know, if ever found a partner/husband) one day.  D very strongly vetoed the idea.  At the time I didn't think much of it, but now I know why.  It's this part.  This part that has me worried night and day.  That has me examining every little twinge I feel.

There's more swirling in my head, but I have to get K ready.

Craft Challenge 2012!

Wow...it has been a year since we've done anything on this blog. Where has the time gone?

Anyhow, I'm posting my first entry into the Craft Challenge. I give you, my dollar store craft! :) Surprise, surprise...it's a wreath! Hey, I needed something quick & easy to get my feet wet. Not sure if we're posting step by step photos, but I'll do it this time. If you think this is unnecessary, let me know.

Materials

wreath form (don't get the floral foam one like I did)
2 Easter garlands
1 pkg plastic Easter eggs (I only used 3)
ribbon
hot glue
First, I glued the end of the first garland to my wreath form.

Next, I started wrapping. This was a small wreath form, so this only took a few minutes and one garland covered about half of it. When I added the second garland, I made sure to hot glue the end of it to my first garland as well.

Here's what it looks like all wrapped, then it was time to add the accessories!

Okay, so I guess I should say, the ribbon I already had. I believe it came off a baby shower gift (that's how come the bow is so perfect...) that I got when I was pregnant with Katie. It was too adorable to throw away though, so it's been hanging out with my craft stuff waiting for the perfect project. I think it looks pretty adorable here!

P.S. Do I get bonus points for completing this during naptime?? :)

Color Consultation

Here's the shower curtain I picked up on clearance this weekend. I'm kind of basing my whole bathroom redesign around it, it seems kind of beachy to me. I already have a couple of pictures of Katie playing in the sand from last year that I want to use (after some cropping & editing) for my wall art, but I'm at a loss for what color I want to paint in there. There's a pretty sort of aqua-y blue stripe, some nice green (although I've lived with green in there for so long...) and the background is a nice off-white. My plan is to remove the old wall paper and repaint everything-even the bead board. Only because it is so dark! So what would you do? Go with a simple off-white? Or the aqua? Or look for a new shower curtain entirely? If money allows, we plan to pretty much gut the whole thing. New toilet, vanity & sink, & new fixtures. I do have an oil rubbed bronze over the toilet shelf that will probably stay, because we are at a storage minimum in there and I like the look of it. So that will probably be the basis of my accent fixtures. Opinions, thoughts, comments? :)

Holiday Dress

I bought Katie's dress tonight. I went to Kohl's and looked at a ton of dresses (50% off sale + extra 15% off coupon, couldn't resist a trip) but none of them looked as good as they did online. Until I found this one. I know you're not a fan of velour, but this is so soft and the whole outfit seems dressy, but comfortable and I'm thinking my little toddler(!) will have a much better time in a dress that she can play on the floor in, rather than one that I'm constantly worried she'll ruin. And if she ruins this, oh well. It cost me about $10. She already has both black & white tights so all we need are some black mary janes in her current size. And maybe some silver hair barrettes. :) Are you going with the dresses you got the girls last year?

31 Books

Okay, so I'm going to do it. I've set a goal to read 31 books by my 31st birthday. I was going to wait until November 1st to start, but I've already started TTW (I'm loving it!) and I know that will take me well past November 1st to finish. My 31st birthday is in just over ten months, so about 3 books a month. Should be totally doable, but I've been reading in the evenings and I just can't stay awake! Sad, I know. Anyhow, care to join me? I don't think asking you to read 31 books by your birthday is quite fair, since it is a few months before mine, but you could read them by my birthday too! :)

A Few More Pictures

Here are more of the ones that my mom didn't like, but I thought were pretty good. Have you heard anything from your photographer yet?

In no particular order...

Too Soon?

To be thinking about holiday outfits? We already covered picture outfits, right? I don't plan to do a holiday family picture, so there won't be any of that hassle. I realized tonight that I need 2 holiday outfits for Katie, so price must be minimal. I'll check OUAC and other places, but I really like this and it is only $12! I think it might be just right for Christmas Eve church services and not be super fussy like last year's dress. Of course, last year she wasn't mobile, so we could get away with a fussier outfit.

Then I'm thinking she's going to need something for Christmas day at my parents' house. We're pretty casual for that, usually jeans & sweaters, so maybe the same for Katie? Probably the most versatile option. Although, I've seen a ton of sweater dresses I'd love to pick up for her. Hmmm...any ideas?
